Question for the CDC

I have a question for the CDC, who are considering advocating circumcision for all newborn infants, in an effort to reduce HIV infection (a flawed plan, as I argue here.)
  1. How come the USA, in which the majority of men are circumcised, is rated 10th in the world for rates of HIV infection - whereas Europe and Japan, where men are generally not circumcised, have considerably LOWER rates of HIV infection?
Doesn't that just shoot the efficacy of this cruel and unnecessary procedure right out of the water?

You must have missed my last comment. I read your blog, Roland.

Anyhoo, what is the rate of homosexual behavior in the countries with higher HIV rates? I think to ignore that negates the numbers entirely.

Now, easy on the dick talk.

I had trouble translating pig latin!

Are you kidding me? The French practically invented lesbianism and you know all us Brits are apparently all in the closet (according to US TV) - yet we're both WAY down on the list. Uptight homophobic America's got us beat in the HIV rates BIG TIME.

Although one of the reason the circumcision thing's not going to work is because 88% of infections aren't from heterosexual sex (which the circumcision can reduce) but from gay sex, drug taking, or gay sex WHILE drug taking.

Why does it not surprise me that you are well versed on the gay stuff? Yes, I agree Brits are ALL gay.

what a crock. hey, you know what works better than a circumcision? A CONDOM! not that the CDC does not advocate those as well. But can you imagine the heterosexual idiot who is just going to focus on circumcision and think he's safe? you know there are people who will. You know what the US really needs is upfront, honest sex ed for pre-sexually active kids. God forbid.

If I have a boy, I'm keeping his penis the way god made it.

I was thinking the same thing, Jodi!

"Hey, Baby. I don't need to use a condom. I'm circumcised.
