Yay! Another thing I'm boycotting! Although it's no great hardship. I've always prefered Stolichnaya.
This advertisment for Absolut Vodka recently got pulled from the media after a number of Americans made angry protests about it. You can't really blame them. Since a number of illegal immigrants are branding themselves 'reconquistadors' and demanding American territory (claiming it's still part of Mexico) this advert seems wildly offensive.
Reverse Vampyr, over on his blog, dredged up some very funny immitations of this commercial. Go and check them out over on his blog.

Roland, great blog about global warming. And this post about Absolut is great! I can't believe Absolut created a pot-stirring ad.
Thanks for the link!
Absolut has apparently fielded enough complaints (and possibly lost enough business) that they've issued an official apology.
Personally, when it comes to vodka, I prefer Tito's. It's a corn-based vodka "handcrafted" at a micro-distillery here in Texas, distilled SIX times, and is the best tasting vodka I've ever tried.

personally I don't find it that offensive. May the Mexicans inherit the earth say I!
I don't find it that offensive, but that could be my Canadian perspective. Tongue in cheek and pushing the boundaries,by all means but I shall not boycott. I shall just not buy because I like Smirnoff better :P
/sigh
It's hard to tell if Absolut actually advocates this stance on America's geography, but I suppose an advertisement is enough endorsement.
If only they put "...according to Mexico" at the end.
Looks like I'm making a trip to the liquor store tonight to find a new Vodka to warm my belly...
