Francis Albert Sinatra (December 12, 1915 – May 14, 1998)
The Spice Girls are getting back together, Kayne West has ruined [I think you mean 'remixed' - Editorial Bear] a mid-nineties Daft Punk classic and American Idol is gearing up to assault our eardrums with another tedious season this January.
Yet despite all these travesties committed in the name of music, quality still shines through.
Which is why, on the 92nd anniversary of Frank Sinatra's birth, SIRIUS Satellite Radio is dedicating an entire day to the man who gave birth to modern popular music.
SIRIUS Satellite Radio already has a channel dedicated to the great man. SIRIUSLY Sinatra is on Channel 75 and plays Frank's classics and other timeless standards all day long.
This Wednesday, on SIRIUSLY Sinatra, Frank Sinatra Jnr, will pay tribute to his father with As I Remember It, a personal biography of Sinatra's life and music.
Longtime Sinatra arranger Nelson Riddle was responsible for squeezing some of the finest performances out of Ol' Blue Eyes - and in honour of this pair's incredible collaboration, the entire recording of Frank's famous 1957 Seattle concert will played - offering a rare chance to hear the man himself perform the way he was meant to be heard - live.
There'll be a special edition of The Chairman's Hour - a somewhat creepy show that uses recording and interviews with Frank Sinatra to enable the great man to 'host' his own hour of radio from beyond the grave - and Linda Ronstadt and Michael Feinstein will play their personal favourites in the Playing Favorites show.
SIRIUS is already a must for Sinatra fans. Wednesday's tribute is just more of what you love. A fitting tribute to the finest popular entertainer of the 20th century.
